Born and raised in Calgary, Ross graduated from the University of Calgary and completed his articles and obtained his designation as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse & Co.
Following 6 years at Price Waterhouse & Co., Ross spent 7 years in industry, in the Calgary corporate head office of an international transportation and resource service group of companies, as Corporate Controller and later Treasurer, where his responsibilities included a broad range of accounting, financial reporting, banking and Canadian and international tax matters.
Since leaving industry in 1985, Ross has spent over 30 years in public practice both as a sole practitioner and as a partner. Ross’ portfolio of clients in Calvista’s private enterprise group covers a broad spectrum, and includes executives and other high net worth individuals, small business owners, partnerships, private and public corporations, retirees, charities, and other not-for-profit entities.
Ross has had significant involvement over the years with his profession, serving on a number of committees at the provincial and national level, as well as serving locally as a Board member and President of The Entrepreneurial CA’s of Calgary; also working as a member of the organizing committee for the annual CPA Small Practitioners’ Forum for over 20 years. He has also been involved behind the scenes in Calgary’s charitable and not-for-profit sector, including as a member of the board of directors of The Calgary Foundation from 2002 to 2011, and serving as Board Chair from 2006 to 2008.
Ross and his wife Janice have four daughters, three sons-in-law, and 11 grandchildren; in addition to spending time with their immediate and extended family, they love to travel as time permits.
